I am Louise Tych (pronounced Tick) BA Hons. (Counselling), MBACP (Accred.), UKRCP (Registered). I am a highly qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist with over 15 years experience, including over 12 years of work in the NHS. I consider myself very fortunate to be living and working in this beautiful and special part of Cumbria, where I was born.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and a member of EMDR UK. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desinsitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and am currently working towards accreditation. EMDR is an NHS evidence based therapy, approved by NICE guidelines, which is proven to be very successful in helping clients with a history of trauma or PTSD.
My core therapeutic model is Person Centred. My BA Honours degree in Counselling is from St Martin's College Lancaster, accredited with Lancaster University. My Practioner’s Diploma is also from St Martin's College Lancaster, which runs some of UK’s most highly acclaimed counselling training courses, accredited by the BACP. I am qualified in IAPT Counselling for Depression (CfD), Keele University. I am passionate in deepening my knowledge and skills which includes having trained in Compassion Focused Therapy (Prof Paul Gilbert, Birmingham University), and CBT with Heart, Chester University (Trainer: Dr Adrian Hemmings) both of which fit very well with my Person Centred values. I have trained extensively in Expressive Arts Therapy (with Dinah Brown - a long term Natalie Rogers’ collaborator). I also have extensive training in Hypnotherapy both with BSCAH and NCH. I offer my clients an integrative approach specific to their individual needs and preferences.
I currently work both within the NHS and privately. My private practice includes working with individuals, EAP's, (Employee Assistance Programmes) and the Charity Sector. My practice includes both short and longer term work.
I have experience in running therapeutic groups, including working with young people (16-25 years) with Asperger’s Syndrome.
I share the philosophy and beliefs of Carl Rogers, having repeatedly experienced the energy the counselling relationship creates and witnessed many times the insights and positive shifts that have taken place for clients through this process.
