Why counselling?
How does counselling feel?
As a client I have found that having someone to listen to me intently, and being offered reflective and respectful understanding of my feelings, is in itself an extremely valuing and therapeutic experience.
It has also felt releasing to be able to talk freely about my feelings in the knowledge that I can trust the Counsellor, that I won’t be judged or criticised and I won’t be told what I need to do or how I am feeling. Any initial worries about feeling shy, self conscious or embarrassed soon disappeared and I felt able to express my feelings openly, and I felt heard and understood.
What can it help with?
Psychotherapy offers a powerful, therapeutic and healing way of successfully dealing with many of the difficult situations we face in our lives. Counselling, or counselling combined with EMDR or hypnotherapy, or elements of other therapeutic models such as CBT or Compassion Focused Therapy, can help bring about significant positive shifts and beneficial changes.
I have worked with a wide range of issues, too numerous to list, including low self-esteem, trauma, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, bullying, anxiety and depression, phobias and habits, relationship problems as well as loss and grief issues.
